Located at the Western end of Europe, Portugal is a country endowed with an invaluable historic, artistic and archaeological heritage, which stand as evidence of a history of more than 850 years, shaped through a long process of interaction with other cultures and civilizations.

Being a country with temperate climate, with four well defined seasons, plenty of sunshine and surprising geographical diversity, Portugal is a favourite destination for tourists, ideal for water sports and golf. Modern tourist facilities coexist with traditional and personalized facilities such as guest houses, hotels de charme and the Pousadas (previously state-run, recently privatised). More recently, spa hotels, as well as agro and eco-tourism have gained in popularity.

Religious tourism, directed mainly to the Shrine of Fátima, equally represents an important source of attraction and interest for potential visitors to the country.

For Korean tourists, visiting Portugal is to be faced with a fascinating mosaic of similarities and differences which, with the flowing of the seasons, reveal themselves in the diverse landscapes, the cultural and religious traditions, the gastronomy, and the openness and hospitality which are distinctive features common to the two peoples.
